Walking Tour--Day in the Life of a Racing Greyhound |
|
Your tour of Seabrook will start in the REGAP kennel. REGAP uses the same crates that are found in the racing kennels so you can get a feel for the racing kennel. You can also visit with the greyhounds who are waiting to find forever homes. Second on your tour will be a benching session with Kenny Carpenter, who has spent his life in the racing industry. He will demonstrate how the trainers go over the greyhounds to insure they are fit. When trainers bench the greyhounds, and find injuries, the start physical therapy for that greyhound to help heal the injury. |

The third stop will be the vets office. There is always a licensed veterinarian on site if the dogs are racing. The veterinarian works with the trainers do deal with any treatment the greyhounds need to be able to continue racing. The fourth stop will be the Dog Truck that is commonly used to transport the greyhounds from the kennel to the track, or to other places the greyhounds need to go. You will be able to look inside and see how safe it is for the greyhounds. The last stop is the walk around the Track. You may walk your greyhound on lead around the track as many times as you want. Your greyhound will probably want to walk further than you do!! Please do not let your greyhound off lead. They will start sprinting around the track. If they are not in shape, they might be a little sore the next day. Other stops maybe added. We hope you enjoy this tour!! |
