Alice Moon-Fanelli received her Master's (1989) and Ph.D. (1993) in Biobehavioral Sciences specializing in ethology and animal behavior genetics at the University of Connecticut. Dr. Moon-Fanelli is a Clinical Assistant Professor, at Tufts University Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Moon-Fanelli is internationally known for her expertise in animal behavior and regularly advises veterinarians, trainers, breeders and animal owners on a variety of animal behavior problems. As a Certified Applied Animal Behaviorist, Dr. Moon-Fanelli is available for behavior consultations at the Tufts behavior clinic. She conducts in-person consultations at the clinic for pet owners, and offers a highly successful fax consulting service (PetFax) for owners who cannot travel to the clinic. During her tenure as a professional animal behaviorist, she has successfully helped to resolve pet behavior problems for clients around the country and as far away as Japan. Dr. Moon-Fanelli teaches a number of courses and seminars on applied animal behavior, ethology & evolution of behavior and animal behavior genetics. She has published articles in professional journals on pet behavior problems, presents research papers and speaks at scientific and veterinary conferences and is currently writing a book on canine behavior genetics. Dr. Moon’s current research interests include the causes, treatment and inheritance of compulsive behaviors in dogs, cats and horses. As a graduate student, she studied wolf social behavior and completed her PhD on the inheritance of the coyote defensive threat in coyote-beagle hybrids. She continues to pursue her interest in wild canid behavior sharing her home with her New Guinea Singing dog and serving on the Board of Directors for the New Guinea Singing Dog Conservation Society. Dr. Alice Moon-Fanelli is a member of the Animal Behavior Society and the American Veterinary Society of Animal Behavior.
