Greyt Human Race 2006

So you want to be a Racing Greyhound??

First seen at a Monica's Heart picnic, the Greyt Human race gives Humans a chance to see what it is like to be a racing greyhound. Each Human "racer" will have a Human trainer. When the starting gun fires, the trainers will brush the back of the racer with a lint roller, clean their racer's nails, help them get their ears, tails, collars and silks on, and clean their ears. Each racer will have to go through the inspection by the Paddock Judge. After that they are on their own. The racers will have to negotiate their way through eating, drinking, peeing, hurdles, cockroaching, and the ultimate Roooo as they cross the finish line.

The motivation for the race is the collection of donations for the adoption groups who have entered racers and trainers. Each racer will be able to collect one dollar donations. Each donation becomes a chance to win a prize for the place that racer finishes. For instance, if you give a one dollar donation on a racer who wins the race, one of those donators ticket will be drawn and they will receive a 75 dollar Visa gift card. Second place ticket drawn will be awarded a 50 dollar Visa gift card, third a twenty five dollar gift card. The remaining donations for the fourth through eighth finishers will be awarded a small gift package.

The groups entering the racers and collecting donations will be able to keep half the donations that are collected on their racer. The other half will be put in a common donation amount. One half of that amount will go to Greyhound Pets of America Mass (who is organizing and overseeing all the Human Races), the other half will be awarded to the winner of the race's sponsoring adoption groups. Everybody is a winner!

We will have a first race where our Human Racers have been recruited from the trainers and assistant trainers at the Mass tracks. They will each have a "trainer" from the Adoption group sponsoring them. The second race will be Human Racers that have been recruited from the adoption groups. They have the option of having a trainer who is from the kennels or a trainer from their adoption group. If there is enough interest we can add an additional race with Human Racers from the Adoption groups. The final race will be a match race between the winners of the previous races.
